The Artist

In many ways I am a child at heart, wondering when I am going to get found out by the adult world and exposed as a fraud. I am an engineering drop-out who selected as liberal arts a degree as could possibly exist. In the end, I graduated from an Ivy League university with a bachelors in questioning what I see, synthesizing seemingly disparate parts, and reflecting on life using Art.

Fast forward a few years. I'm working in Human Resources for what my college self would have labeled a "big bad corporation." Reality isn't so simple as that and I love the work I do.  Art is still a central part of my life and I pursue it in my off hours. I am encouraged to continue exploring my passion for art by a husband who has no interest in painting or mixed media or the difference between charcoal and graphite. His interest in and love for me pours out in the form of space, physical and temporal, as well as resources, for my passions. Even when we had only 500 square feet to our name, he found a way to ensure a part of that was mine to create in.

Pablo Picasso said that "every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." My passion in the arts is helping adults to find the artist inside themselves.
